Lost Barrels

The Meyer-Näkel winery lost almost its entire vintage 2020 harvest in the floods of July 2021. »Luck in misfortune« sounds trite in the context of this once-in-a-century tragedy, but fundamentally, that's exactly what it was when nine barrels, believed lost from the otherwise completely devastated winery, reappeared some villages downstream and were recovered unharmed. They are all that remains for Meyer-Näkel from the otherwise completely lost vintage 2020. Nine precious barriques, each yielding 280 bottles. Nine barrels full of outstanding Pinot Noir from the estate's best sites, which, as relics that defied the catastrophe, symbolically embody the new beginning for the winery's future under the two sisters. The exclusive limited edition of the Lost Barrels 2020 is both a unique, bottled memento and homage to the "old" Ahr Valley and the Meyer-Näkel winery as we knew it...

The price per bottle for the „Lost Barrels“ is €600.00! You have the rare opportunity to taste three of these precious „Lost Barrels“ from the 2020 vintage. For comparison, we will be serving the wine from the current vintage for each. We will be serving a total of 10 wines from Weingut Meyer Näkel with the 4-course menu by KölnSKY head chef Sönke Höltgen.

This exclusive tasting can only take place with at least 15 participants and will be personally led by Meike or Dörte Näkel.
