For the first time, Kölsch is available at the Fine Food Days Cologne
„We are holding a festival of culinary delights that suits this city and this region.“ This is how Michael Stern, the chairman of the organising association, which now includes 19 gastronomic establishments from Cologne and the surrounding area, announced it. Naturally, the traditional top-fermented beverage also belongs to the city and the region, and for the sixth edition of this unique festival of culinary delights (24 August to 7 September), it will be officially served at the events for the first time, alongside water and fine wines.
The Fine Food Days Cologne, which with 35 events once again offer a comprehensive insight into the high standard of the city's Michelin-starred and top gastronomy scene, are pleased to have gained two new premium partners: Sion Kölsch and Peters Kölsch. In doing so, the organisers are also fulfilling a frequently expressed wish of their guests, who often enjoy a delicious glass of Kölsch to kick off a culinary evening or as a digestif to round it off.
„We are absolutely delighted to now be a partner and thus part of this special gourmet festival for the entire region,“ says brewery managing director Georg Schäfer. „Sion Kölsch and Peters Kölsch are a wonderful fit for the Fine Food Days Cologne.“
Like the top-tier kitchens and restaurants involved, both brands have their own unique characteristics and histories.
Sion Kölsch is one of the city's most traditional beer brands. Long-time company boss Hans Sion is considered the „Father of Kölsch“ and was instrumental in the Kölsch Convention, signed in 1986 by 24 breweries, which to this day stands for the quality and character of the top-fermented beer. Sion Kölsch is effervescent and has a fine, dry, hoppy finish – a harmonious composition that has proven particularly successful in the catering industry.
Peters Kölsch, the small, fine brand, is the only Kölsch available in a swing-top bottle with the distinctive 'Plöpp' that goes with it.
In terms of taste, it is subtle, slender and elegant with a discreet malty note – a fine harmony of flavours that uniquely combines tradition and freshness, tasting as fresh as if poured straight from the tap every time the bottle is opened – simply delicious.
Cologne remains a culinary hotspot – now officially with Kölsch in a glass or directly from the 'Plöpp' bottle.
